Guardianship Services

Students from abroad, attending schools in Ireland, need to have a nominated guardian, for the duration of their school stay. A guardian is an adult living in Ireland who represents the student’s parents, acting on their behalf, continually looking out for the student’s best interests, in normal times and if the unexpected should arise. For students who do not have a suitable local family member or friend to take on this responsibility, Rockbrook International has the expertise and experience to fulfil this important role, whether the student is in a day-school (perhaps staying with a host family) or in a boarding school.

Our Guardianship Packages

We offer two programmes, the Classic and the Complete.

Procedure for students requiring a visa

  1. When we receive the completed application form, signed and dated, we can begin the enrolment process.
  2. We also require a simple character reference from the previous school or from a similar independent authority, with evidence of the student’s ability to follow an Irish school programme successfully.
  3. Please send us confirmation of your place in the Irish school.
  4. When we agree to assume the role of guardian we send you an invoice.
  5. Please contact your local visa office to find out the specific requirements for applying for a student visa for Ireland.
  6. If the visa application has not been completed with the help of the school, on receipt of the guardianship fee we can issue a formal acceptance letter which is typically required.
  7. Private Health Insurance is needed for the duration of the guardianship.
  8. Please inform Rockbrook when the visa is obtained and the school place confirmed.
  9. Please consult with Rockbrook before booking flights. Flight arrivals should be at a reasonable time.
